This game is a 10/10 for all ages, from your offspring to grandparents. I unlocked the golden spook on day one and have not chosen another piece since. Since its launch, I have not stopped playing it. I have waited all of my life for this moment. Don't believe me that it's god's masterpiece to the world, yet? Look at all the This game is pure bliss. The price tag is a little bit steep, but I expect to get my money's worth over time. Personally I think it's pretty great to have available on the go, and the presentation overall is quite nice. In conclusion, this seems like a fantastic party game to play online or with friends, or just versus AI if that's your thing. Once a game got started, however, most people seemed to stick around. It wasn't very easy to get into a game, since a lot of players kept joining and leaving during the setup. The online play also seems quite interesting. It's pretty cool that they attempted to use motion controls with HD rumble for dice rolling though. I noticed some input lag during the selection screen where you select your player piece, and I also think they should make the dice rolling using the joycons a bit smoother. I turned off the voices though, as I found them pretty obnoxious. The visuals are really nice, and I the music is fantastic. There's also an addition of "living boards", where the boards have a theme, and the properties come alive when you land on them or purchase them.
There are different game modes, where you play classic Monopoly with classic rules, or you can switch (heh) it up and add action cards or house rules. The game itself runs quite smoothly, both in docked and handheld. It's really odd that this even happens, but I'm quite relieved that it's so easily fixed. After that the load time to launch the game changes to 10-15 seconds (I timed it). Someone below mentioned the long load times - I first experienced those too, but it turns out that you just need to restart your Switch. The game itself runs quite smoothly, This game surprised me in a good way. Fairly easy to learn if you're familiar with other Monopoly video games Biggest complaints -The narrator is extremely annoying, Luckily, it can be turned off -Loading screens that are on par with DOS games is unacceptable, especially for the Switch, which is supposed to have faster loading times -No way to shake the dice that I know of if the control sticks are attached to the console.
Knocking over game pieces and houses while rolling the dice without having to stand them back up and put them back in place is somehow satisfying. It's still a decent party game to ruin friendships, just like the real thing. Redeeming factors -Different themed boards, including a Halloween themed board (just in time for Halloween) and a Rabbids board. It's not bad, but there's a few things that are annoying about the game.
I compared this game with other Monopoly games I've played before (NES, N64, Super Nintendo, and PC) and I'd say this is fairly average compared to them. Different themed boards, including a Halloween themed board (just in time for Halloween) and a Rabbids What can I say? It's a Monopoly game.
